What made OBAMA win the 2008's election And is "Fair & Lovely" the best product ?
Each day we have 4,83,60,00,00,00,000 ideas ! ARE YOU SURE YOUR SO CALLED GREAT THOUGHT CAN COMPETE WITH THE OTHER 48360000000000 IDEAS?
There’s one story that We’ve been told several times in our Marketing class.
And it goes like - There was an island where nobody wears a shoe!
So , a person from a shoe manufacturing company was sent there to find if there's a demand for shoes in the market. He found it odd as he saw everyone there was bare-footed and nobody in the market place was looking for something to wear on their feet and therefore being upset he sent a mail to his company that there's no demand for shoes as nobody wears a shoe.
Few days later on the same Island there was another person who went there from a shoe company and right after landing a report was sent to the company for sending piles of shoes on that island because Nobody wears a shoe in the market.
You can spot the difference between the perception of two people over here the first man focused on "What the customer needs" but the second person focused on " How can we create a certain need?"
Both of them were given the same set of information yet two people came up with absolutely different sets of results . It's because we're human and humans are biased. We're biased about the stories we tell to ourselves. That's why we see, even two close friends would be fighting about Barcelona or Real Madrid being better than one another .
Messi and Ronaldo both are incredibly successful and exceptionally talented soccer players. Yet just because both friends have some different beliefs , they believe one of the players is better than the other one.
Likewise, in that given situation the two individuals came up with absolutely different solutions.
Did you notice I didn't even tell you the ending of the story but I guess you've come up with a thought that," The first guy was such a fool and the second one is smarter because as they understood the need and used the opportunity of building market demand for it. I wouldn't lie, I came up with the same conclusion as you when I heard the story for the first time. "
But what if she failed to analyze the market properly? ( Oh, yes you didn’t see that coming of course. I didn’t use an exact pronoun there , the person can be anyone- and see there again you were telling yourself a story)
So what if she failed because she couldn't analyze the market properly? She couldn't do business over there because she couldn't change people's worldview !
IT IS TRUE THAT A SINGLE IDEA CAN CHANGE THE WHOLE WORLD and I’m a firm believer of that.
Human brain is amazing . Research says an average human being has 6,200 thoughts a day and there are about 7.8 billion people on currently on the planet. Research also says that it is about to be 8 Billion by 2023. Therefore, each day we have 4,83,60,00,00,00,000 ideas ! ARE YOU SURE YOUR SO CALLED GREAT THOUGHT CAN COMPETE WITH THE OTHER 48360000000000 IDEAS? Where you’re actually skipping the digits because it’s just two long fine let me help you it's four thousand eighty three hundred and sixty with 9 zeros that is 48360 billion ideas.
I'm sure your idea is brilliant and it'll change the world for good but it's not ideas that changed the world. It's the stories which explain the idea , it's the stories of living in the world with the same idea or vision, and IT IS ONLY THAT SET OF STORIES that correlate with our existing worldview gets to penetrate our thoughts faster than anything else. Something novel is not really novel. The idea of a first domestic robot goes way back to 1938 almost 40 years before the first ever domestic robot HERO was even made .
We often believe the product is what the company sells and the better the product the better the sales.
Now just imagine ‘Fair & Lovely’ being the best product!
But for years they have been ruling over the market. It’s not ONLY the product quality that boosts sales, there are many factors such as marketing, branding, availability, price, taste and many more.(Which is a whole different topic that we can talk about later.)
The same trend was seen to be followed by Narendra Modi in 2014’s Lok Sabha election in India. Narendra Modi’s chant of “ अच्छे दिन आने वाले हैं” ( which literally means “ good days are coming” ) is what drove an entire group of people to vote for him.
Both of them are Incredible Politicians who understood the capability of proper marketing to drive an entire Population and inspire them.
What if I told you're being manipulated ! YOU ARE BEING MANIPULATED EVERYDAY, EVERY MINUITE , EVERY SECOND !
To know how Stay tuned!
