So, Mark bought Instagram right after it’s boom because he wanted to have all the data by himself ???............

Do you remember the name of the smartest kid in the school?

No, I don’t mean the name of the boy or girl who came first. I want the name of the smartest one.

If you still didn’t find I’m sorry. Your school has failed to teach you to identify who the smartest one is from your class. My school didn’t teach me either. Hence, for my entire life I thought that the first girl of our school Ipsita Das Mohapatra is the brightest one from our school. Only to find out yesterday that even goats have excellent long-term memory. 

But do you call the goat the smartest of animals?

Now for a moment try to recall what Darwin had to say in his theory, He said the individuals having the characteristics best suited to their environment are likely to survive, find food, avoid predators, resist disease and they are also likely to pass on their genes through reproduction to their successors.

Now, if you see to it termites and ants also have a great survival technique, unique to their kind and you can’t deny they’re brilliant at it.

So, do you call them the smartest?

We often forget that the world doesn’t reward the one who knows how to survive. The world rewards those who are here to win and we’re back to the place when I said Ideas don’t sell . THEY JUST DON’T !!!

Just imagine Steve Jobs sitting home and dreaming of a technology that will change the world forever instead of actually developing the gadget that changed the world for the better. 

Human beings are amazing ,they are smart, intelligent,  kind, crafty, read literature, write poetry. They are wholesome. They even manipulate themselves apart from being manipulated by others . Remember when I said we tell ourselves the stories we want to hear ourselves and we like having the ‘Yes-Man’ around us always?

We like getting validation from everyone. Especially Generation Z . I’m not saying that is very wrong. No matter how many times I say I like people who criticize me, I  too feel for a moment what if THEY DIDN'T ! I love getting Praised as much as anyone else. 

And Guess who’s profiting from that ?  

Your favourite social media. They know the time when you’re most lonely. They keep track of every time you went on to check a certain profile. They just know, They even know for how many seconds you’ve been checking a single post on Instagram. They’ve tracked everything.

So, is this the reason Mark bought Instagram right after it’s boom because he wanted to have all the data by himself?

But wait, all the data about your personal life? 

Don’t you feel like asking what Mark will do with all that personal information?

The answer is Simple - MANIPULATE.

Currently Instagram is the growing platform . Research shows that it has 500 million daily active users. Sure it’s not as big as Facebook but it has a huge customer base and most of them are loyal to certain brands. Surveys also say that an average Instagram user has a higher number of disposable income and we know what that means. That means they can afford more of what they want to buy.   

 

And the problem begins there!

With more time a person spends on Instagram or other social Media platforms the algorithm grows. It gets more equipped with the information we ourselves feed to the system . The AI used in Instagram is way smarter than what we think it is. I personally have been into Instagram for very long now and I’ve learned with time how the algorithm works. Machine learning and modern technology has made it possible for the AI to learn and understand our needs and expose us to contents we’d like to view depending on our mood.

Yes, in case you  missed , I did say Depending on our mood. 

Ever remember when your significant other dumped you and you were all alone and suddenly Rahul Kausik and 6 word stories was all over your Instagram feed? The Algorithms know because it had been spying on you since the very beginning.

Noticed how you’d receive a call from a telecom company always during the Afternoon or night? Because those times we are most lonely and more vulnerable for falling on those buy 2 get 1 deals and Guess who’s using that vulnerability against you now?
